“Can we begin to live as if we believed that we belonged to the land, as if we were grateful for the land? And can we, in return, be someone that the land would be grateful for?”

California is racing toward a carbon-free energy grid by 2045, but success isn’t guaranteed.
At Eco Equity, we work with clients who share our belief that clean power can benefit — not burden — our state’s economy.
One such client is a national association representing over 400 companies, many of them major energy consumers. Determined to reach 100 percent clean energy ahead of California’s official goal, they’ve sponsored legislation—drafted with Eco Equity’s help—to spur the California Public Utilities Commission to better plan for future energy needs. This leadership from large energy buyers sends a strong signal that renewables are viable and profitable.
Beyond that, Eco Equity collaborates with innovators harnessing wave, tidal, and offshore-wind energy. We helped guide legislation into law in 2023 that puts California on the path to tap ocean power. We also pushed the state to set ambitious offshore-wind goals—up to 5 gigawatts by 2035 and 25 gigawatts by 2045.
A major obstacle to clean-energy expansion is our limited transmission capacity, which is costly and time-intensive to fix. To help address this, Eco Equity assembled a diverse coalition—technical experts, labor, environmental-justice advocates—to support legislation advancing Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs) and advanced conductors. These tools can significantly boost existing transmission capacity at a fraction of the cost, improving reliability and opening the door to more renewable energy.
California stands as a global leader in climate mitigation, and Eco Equity is proud to have played a role in that leadership. We’ll continue bringing new voices, innovative technologies, and bold policy solutions to the legislative table in the 2025-26 session. There’s no time to rest—there’s too much work ahead.
